Who writes our content
PickEat's diet and condition guides are written by the PickEat Editorial Team — the people who build PickEat's ingredient and compatibility engine. Every guide is informed by the same dietary logic the app uses to flag ingredients, so what you read on the site matches how the product actually behaves.
How we research
We write each guide against publicly available guidance from recognised health, allergy and nutrition organisations — bodies such as the NHS, Coeliac UK, Diabetes UK, the British Heart Foundation, Monash University's FODMAP programme, Anaphylaxis UK, FARE, The Vegan Society and The Vegetarian Society. The specific sources behind each guide are listed in a "Sources & further reading" section on that page.
Our focus is practical and label-led: which ingredients and additives matter for a given diet or condition, the names they hide behind, and how to spot them on a pack. We avoid claims we can't support.
Accuracy & updates
Food formulations and labelling rules change, so we review and update our guides over time. Each page shows its last-updated date. If you spot something that looks out of date or incorrect, please tell us at support@pickeat.io and we'll review it.
Medical review & limits
Our health guides are written to reflect guidance from the organisations we cite. They are general information, not personalised medical advice, and they are not a substitute for a consultation with a qualified doctor, dietitian or allergist — especially for severe allergies, active disease or any decision about treatment.
We are expanding our process to include named, qualified clinical reviewers for our medical guides. Until a guide carries a specific reviewer's name, treat it as carefully sourced editorial information rather than individual medical advice.
Independence
PickEat is a free app funded by an optional premium subscription. Our guides are not sponsored by food brands, and we don't accept payment to present a product as compatible or incompatible. Compatibility verdicts come from ingredients, not advertising.
